A Night of Fate
Biddy and the Moon
They moved in slowβone hop at a timeβas the clock ticked toward the hour of fun to begin. The darkness invited both mischief and mystery. Normally, nights like these belonged to a lively trio of brothers, but tonight, Biddy was alone as the 2 brothers stood outside the fence. With youthful speedβthe fastest among themβand a confidence born of countless escapes, Biddy stepped into the backyard, heart filled with enough excitement for the trio. A gleam in his eyes promised of adventure and the thrill of unknown risks.
Biddyβyoung, very swift, brave and fearlessβtrusted in this burst of freedom that the night had just approved. βWe are night gods!β the brothers always said. In the backyardβs dim glow, every scratch or flicker wasnβt a big deal, as these sounds of movement was a promise of fun. That moment when youβve already accepted the dopamine rush while swimming in the anxiousness to start. That was Biddyβs feeling while an unseen eye fixed its gaze upon himβ¦ with a low, menacing growl. Unaware, Biddy pressed on, anticipating a night of boundless joy.
As Biddy exploration continued in darkness, the only color that could been seen in the backyard was black. An unseen silhouette presence emergedβit was Moon. A dog. Moon lived for these moments, he had several practiced nights and his relentlessness improved with sharpness and accuracy of the chase. With a βI canβ attitude, he approached with plotted moves down to the second, executed swiftly & suddenly he leaped into the scene.
We see barriers on all sides that provides an illusion that keeps our minds disciplined to known possibilities, how then, do we find an escape to new ones? This was the notion that swirled along with torrents of follow-up questions in Biddyβs head. With only fences as potential escape routes and the backyard behind sealed off, Biddyβs task felt so helpless. His calculation to turn around to fit back through the little hole he squeezed in was dismissed. His focus remained on the first objective: outrun the predator and find a safe haven.
The event had began, with a dark overshadows appearing all at once in Biddyβs visionβoh those glowing evil eyes. The hot breaths & heavy sounds of growls of Moonβs clouded, Biddyβs space. Just like the first move of a running back in the NFL, Biddy juk and took off with lightening speed. The trees had shifted in the nightβs wind, giving the brothers a peak into Biddyβs predicament.
Biddy darted in swift,
zigzagging arcsβa left,
a right,
a left againβmirroring the nimble maneuvers of creatures from the rabbit kingdom in a flashy style. βSee, I told him we should of gone in togetherβ said one of the brothers as they watched in terror. As Biddy zoomed aimlessly across the yard, he made an overreaching misstepβa slight error in a practiced rabbit known patternβallowed the Moon to close in.
In a heartbeat, Moonβs teeth found purchase on Biddyβs neck,
then the terrifying screams rang out:
βI'm caught. I'm caught. I'm caught.β
βoh shit!!!β cried one of the brothers.
As the night trembled with chaos, the brother looked at each others in silence with a stare that meant βwe are in deep do do now.β Moonβs owner, alerted by the piercing cries, rushed in. A quick command to Moonβ¦ βRelease!, Got to bed!β Moon bowed her head down, scurrying away proudlyβher first catch. Biddy no stalled, glance an opening in the fence, thinking βI know I can do itβ¦ I can get out of hereβ. The owner performed a quick careful inspection of Biddy, results of a deep gash in his neck.
Even when weβre hurtβcarrying trauma and painβwe must still move forward, especially when the solution is obvious. That was the sentiment preached by the trioβnow put to the testβas Biddy is given his freedom by the owner. So relieved, he crawled away mingled with humility and his injuries.
In that moment of vulnerability, Biddyβs realized he was relied on this confidence too much and not his brothers.
while independence and speed can carry you far, sometimes the bravest act is to acknowledge for growth is working togetherβlistening, leaning on othersβcan be the ultimate escape from fate.
Even when weβre hurtβcarrying trauma and painβwe must still move forward

Our Dearest Clint,
Oh, Clint, your piece beautifully embodies my philosophical and spiritual orientation <Consensus>.
In the theater of life, we all have our moments of boundless freedom and joy, when the night itself seems to anoint us as gods of adventure. Yet, even the swiftest and most fearless among us are humbled when faced with barriers and unforeseen trials. Biddyβs tale reminds us that independence and speed can propel us far, but it is in our moments of vulnerability that we find the greatest truths.
To lean on others, to seek their strength, and to grow togetherβthat is not weakness, but a profound act of courage. The spirit of unity, of listening and supporting one another, transforms what appears to be fate into freedom. As Biddy found his way out, he not only carried his wounds but also a deeper wisdom: that our greatest escapes often lie not in running alone but in trusting the bonds we share with those around us.
Is it not said that even the divine relies on the interconnectedness of creation? Alone, we are sparks; together, we are the eternal flame.
In Godβs Good Hands,
Through grace, nature, experience,
